Jet Setting: Travel Opportunities for Temple Students

Immersive experiences have become one of the cornerstones of programmatic success at Temple University. These trips are designed to facilitate community building, Jewish learning, and of course a memorable travel experience. This academic year, Hillel at Temple University will partner with the Hillel Schusterman International Center to provide students with two types of immersive experiences: Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trip and an Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Between March 8th and March 15th , Temple University's spring break, nine students will travel to the Gulf Coast working to rebuild the communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Experiences such as these not only serve to help individuals in need, but also provide a context for conversation about mitzvot and social responsibility. Ultimately, it will be a memorable and special way for students from Temple University to spend their spring break.

Additionally, twice during this academic year, over winter break and during the summer, students from Temple University will travel together to Israel on the Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trip. Throughout this whirlwind tour, students will have the opportunity to see important historical sites, while forming a strong community. As proven by past trips, most students will return impacted by the country of Israel and the opportunity to travel with their peers; ultimately, strengthening the campus community upon their return to Philadelphia.

These travel opportunities provide students with more than an unforgettable trip. They help connect students on a college campus to klal yisrael, the greater community of Israel.
