Mimouna -- celebrate the end of Passover with Jews and Muslims

Apr 6 2010 - 8:00pm to 9:00pm
Location:
Bond Hall first floor main room

Come learn about Mimouna--a custom among North African Jews marking the end of Passover with Muslim members of their community--with Muslim students and eat hametz again!

We'll hear a 15-minute talk from historian Dr. Ethan Katz--he'll explain Mimouna itself, what it represents, and how it was a highly complex ritual historically that at once brought Jews and Muslims together in unusual ways and reflected societal hierarchies and tensions.

Then we'll have pizza and hang out.
