Philly Hillel

Greetings from the Chair - Howard Goldberg

Hillel at Temple University is anticipating an exciting and indeed historic year, and I am happy to have this opportunity to share some highlights with you.  Construction has begun on the Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center, and the building promises to be a beautiful addition to Temple's dynamic, modernized campus.  Once complete, the Rosen Center will be the "home" for vibrant Jewish life at Temple.  In light of the substantial increases in the Jewish student population at Temple, the Rosen Center could not have been planned and built at a more opportune time for the University.

We are delighted to welcome Phil Nordlinger as the Director.  Phil has hit the ground running since his appointment became effective on August 1st.  I am confident that with Phil's solid experience in Jewish informal and formal education as well his enthusiasm for the Hillel program our students will be well served.

We are in the process of identifying individuals with various areas of interest and expertise to serve on the Hillel Board of Overseers.  As Chair of this Board, and as a proud graduate of Temple's Fox School of Business, I am honored to expand my wide ranging involvements at Temple to assume this leadership role.  We look forward to welcoming the gift of a Torah to the Rosen Hillel Center from The Lipman Family at services to be held at the Rosen Center on June 7, 2009 and for the Grand Opening Celebration of the Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center in the fall of 2009.  This is a vital time in the history of Hillel at Temple University, and I look forward to reporting on our progress in the months ahead

Warmly,
Howard Goldberg, Chair
Hillel at Temple University Board of Overseers
